Being effective is about doing the right things, while being efficient is about doing things right.

You might efficiently respond to all emails within minutes, but not effectively if the recipient has to ask you for more information for further clarity. Efficiency is pointless if it doesn’t achieve the right goal. Make no mistake, both are important, but at InteGen we prefer to be effective first, achieving the goal, and then achieving efficiencies. We strive to find the sweet spot between the two. Effectiveness trumps efficiency.

Identifying what needs to be done comes first (effectiveness) and then we need to find a way to do it efficiently. It’s better to do the right thing less efficiently (effective but inefficient) than to do the wrong thing efficiently (ineffective but efficient).
